FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The equipment’s loud at night. Does it have to be on?
Yes. The drying equipment will be far less effective if it’s turned off.
Do you guarantee your work?
Our work is always guaranteed for twelve months from the date of completion, and we will ask you to sign a form stating the work has been completed satisfactorily before we leave.
Do we have to use your company for the repairs?
No, you don’t. However, if you choose not to use Umbrella Property Restoration, it’s up to you to hire a contractor whose work is covered under your homeowner’s policy.
Do you use any harmful chemicals?
Many of the chemicals we use are not harmful to full-grown people, but could be toxic to small children or pets. The safest course is to stay clear of chemicals in the home.
Do I have to stay in my home during the dry-out process?
Depending on what parts of your home were affected, you may or may not wish to do this. If you don’t, you’ll want to check with your insurance company about Additional Living Expenses (ALE) coverage and see if it’s part of your homeowner’s coverage.
We’re not going to be home. Do you need access?
Yes. It is crucial that we have access to the building so that we can monitor the situation and make adjustments as needed. When you’re home, this is not much of a problem. When you’re not, we’ll need to arrange for technician access.
Do you have to check on the house so often?
To make sure we keep on top of any possible problems and correct them before they become major issues, our technicians may have to take moisture and environmental readings, add, adjust, or subtract equipment, and do other things as appropriate. A great deal depends on how much water was in place to begin with and how much damage is observed, anticipated, or suspected.
What do I need to do?
Our job is to make your life as easy as possible in the aftermath of a disaster, and our technicians, project managers, and other personnel are trained with that in mind. While we may need your direction in selecting replacement carpets and other such matters, we will do everything we can to ensure you can focus on getting your life back together.
What if you encounter something you can’t dry out?
We will restore everything we possibly can. In the event we find something that is too damaged to repair, we will submit an estimate of replacement to your insurance adjuster.
How long does drying the place out take?
Depending on the amount of water, how long it’s been there, and the kind of materials affected, the dry-back process could take as little as two days or as long as a week or more. We have to make certain the moisture is removed before any other steps are taken.
